British Airways - Home Page Redesign
Background: I created this home page redeisgn as part of my first assignment for my web design class (IDCC 370 Web Design I: Information Design, Principles and Practices) at my university.
Client: British Airways
Objective: Create a redesign of the client's main page
British Airways is a UK-based airline that positions itself towards value-seeking customers who are willing to pay for 'enhanced experiences'. The airline commits themselves to high standards to ensure their customers a continually improving end-to-end experience.
To enforce British Airways's commitment to high standards, the main background features images of two striking, high-end vacation destinations—Machu Picchu and Greece. To add more dimension to the main background, I placed a red and blue gradient overlay on top of the destination images. This gradient overlay served two main purposes. First, the red and blue overlay reinforces the airline's core palette; second, the gradient effect helps the text, "Fly High," on top of the main background stand out more. The message, "Fly High," nods to British Airways's goal of serving its customers the highest standard of the flying experience. Finally, to make the main background more cohesive, I lined up the two images so that the mountains in the Machu Picchu image align with the mountains in the Greece image. This subtle detail with the gradient overlay makes the overall two-image background feel more connected.
